100GSM Paper FAQs
Is it ok to use 100GSM A4 paper in a printer?
Answer: Yes, 100GSM paper is only slightly thicker than the standard 80GSM, that most printer paper consists of. In fact, printers are capable of taking paper and card up to 250GSM in thickness.
Can I print on 100GSM A4 paper on both sides without any bleed-through?
Answer: Paper with a thickness of 100GSM offers far less bleed-through compared to the standard 80GSM printer paper, which makes it more suitable for double-sided printing. However, there may still be a small amount of ink visible from the opposite side, especially if you are printing in vivid colour.
Is 100GSM paper suitable for sketching with pen and ink or calligraphy?
Answer: Yes, 100GSM paper is thick enough so that you should not experience any bleed-through when sketching or drawing on it with ink pens. Additionally, it is an ideal weight for use with a light box.
What is the benefit of 100GSM paper over standard 80GSM printer paper?
Answer: Standard 80GSM paper is the most commonly used paper in home printers, so the average person is accustomed to its thickness. Therefore, 100GSM is immediately recognisable as thicker and heavier, which adds a touch of importance to documents printed in 100GSM. It also offers less bleed-through and produces higher quality printed images.
