Bleach

Bleaches are mainly used for two purposes: to remove colour and to disinfect. Bleaches remove colours by breaking down the chemical bonds of chromophores, the parts of molecules that have colour. Bleaches disinfect by killing microbes. Bleaching agents disrupt their cell membranes, inhibiting or killing the cells.
