Aerosol glues like 3m's Spray Mount and Pritt's Craft-it glue are adhesives that are contained in and dispersed by a spray can. This offers obvious advantages for certain gluing situations such as mounting photos and artwork, or for bonding delicate materials where bleed-through might be an issue. Many spray glues also allow up to five minutes for repositioning. Using spray glue is also an unmessy experience and actually quite satisfying.
3M's Spray Mount is perhaps the most familiar brand of spray glue. It's transparent aerosol spray provides a fast, easy application of adhesive for artwork, paste-ups and layouts. Other 3M spray adhesives include:
Photo Mount, for permanent mounting of photographs, maps and illustrations. This strong glue nevertheless allows some time to position before bonding sets.
ReMount employs a 'Post-it'-type adhesive – that is, a pressure sensitive adhsive – which holds securely but which is not permanent. Thus the mount can be repositioned many times without re-spraying.
Display Mount is the strongest of these spray glues and provides maximum-strength, instant bonding – ideal for 3D modelling and exhibition or display boards.
Pritt's Craft-it glue allows up to five minutes for repositioning and is ideally suited to mounting and bonding paper, card, fabric, felt and foil to most common surfaces. It makes an excellent scrapbook or craft accessory.
