A guide to buying disposable tableware

Whether you’re planning a party, hosting a lunch meeting or looking for some disposable tableware for your office kitchen, we have products to suit your every need. 

Disposable tableware means plates, cups, and utensils that you use once and then throw away. They are often made from materials like paper or plastic and are handy for quick and easy meals, picnics, or parties where you don't want to wash the dishes afterwards.

In a world where we're increasingly aware of our impact on the environment thinking about which products you choose is important, We stock a range of Vegware (tableware made from plants).

What should I think about when choosing disposable tableware?

Size: you don’t want food to be falling off the edge of the plates, or drinks spilling over the tops of the cups. See our sizing guide below.

Usage: think about what type of food or drink you’ll be serving. Will people be using the items while standing up and mingling, or will they be sitting down?

Cup types: Will you be serving hot beverages like coffee or tea, or icy cold refreshments? Would you prefer insulated (more than single-walled) or non-insulated? Some cups come with lids, preventing spills and allowing for sipping on the go.

Quantity: Before adding the items to your basket, consider the number of people you’re catering for. We offer different pack sizes, and it's always a good idea to have a few extra on hand, just in case. Nothing more annoying than a broken plastic fork and not having a spare.

Convenience: One of the main reasons for choosing disposable tableware is convenience. When selecting your items, look for features that enhance that convenience factor. Things like stackable cups and plates make storage a breeze, while microwave-safe options allow for easy reheating of leftovers. Who doesn't love an effortless cleanup?

Sustainability: we have a range of recyclable and bio-degradable options. Check if your local recycling facilities accept the type of materials used, or if they're suitable for composting. By doing so, you'll complete the eco-circle and contribute to a cleaner environment.

How do I work out what size I need?

Cups

4oz – equivalent of 115ml
7oz – equivalent of 200ml
8oz – equivalent of 235ml
9oz – equivalent of 250ml
12oz – equivalent of 350ml
16oz – equivalent of 450ml

Plates

7 inch = equivalent to a side plate
9 inch = equivalent to a dinner plate
