Staying safe on the job: How to take Health & Safety seriously
Let’s be honest – when you hear “health and safety in the workplace,” your first instinct might be to yawn. But trust us, it’s actually a big deal (and kind of cool when you think about it). At Paperstone, we don’t just follow the rules – we make safety part of our everyday culture. We want to help you and your team stay safe too.
First Aid trained and ready to roll

We keep our office safe by making sure our team is First Aid trained. Yep, a few of us (left to right: Hayley, Tim, Kelly) are fully equipped to handle anything from minor scrapes to more serious situations (though, fingers crossed, we never need to put our skills to the test!).
We’ve got people who know what to do, whether it’s a paper cut crisis or something a little more urgent. Loch & Associates, our lovely downstairs neighbours, provided the training for our team. Another part of being first aid trained is having a fully stocked first aid kit that’s accessible and clearly marked. Making sure all the components are within their use-by date is also very important. And we have an accident report book on hand to record all those workplace injuries, minor or major.
The right safety gear when out and about
Of course, staying safe isn’t just about knowing what to do in an emergency. It’s also about wearing the right workwear to prevent accidents in the first place. According to the Labour Force survey conducted in 2023/2024, 604,000 workers sustained a non-fatal workplace injury. That’s where our range of high-quality health and safety workwear comes in – we want to help make sure you and your team don’t become one of these statistics.

Whatever your industry – construction, warehousing, or even just braving the great British weather – we’ve got the gear to keep you safe and comfortable.
Safety matters even if you’re in an office all day
When people think “health and safety,” they often picture hard hats and high-vis vests. But let’s not forget about staying safe in the office. Yes, even keyboard warriors need protection – especially from the silent enemy: bad posture. The H&S government website stated that workers reported 168,000 new cases of work-related musculoskeletal disorders during the 2023/2024 period.
This is where ergonomics comes in. What is ergonomics, we hear you ask? Fancy word, simple meaning: making sure everything from your desk to your chair is comfortable and works with your body, not against it. Things like supportive chairs that don’t leave you with back pain by 2pm, desks set at the right height to avoid hunching over, and monitor stands to stop horrible neck ache.

Taking care of you and your team
At the end of the day, workplace safety isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about making sure everyone goes home in one piece. We protect, prepare, and properly dress our team (and yours) to help everyone avoid accidents.
