In a poll which seems strangely out of date, it is revealed that desktop computers and laptops are overtaking fax machines and printers as desk equipment viewed as most stylish.

The poll of 450 European home and office workers commissioned by toner cartridge maker Lexmark found that 72 percent considered their computer to be the “most stylish” piece of equipment on their desk. Faxes and printers, on the other hand, were considered the least stylish.

One in four said they would even hide their fax machine from other people.

Two-thirds of office workers prefer black-coloured office equipment while a quarter prefer white.

Two-thirds said they would pay more for such equipment if it look sleek and stylish.

Said Steve Purdy, country general manager at Lexmark UK, “We’re entering a new era of style on the desktop where sleek looks and design meet advanced technology.”
