Police in America are investigating a robbery which has seen thieves make off with computers and other office equipment worth $10,000 (£5,100).

The incident took place at the Greater Berks Convention & Visitors Bureau in Reading, Pennsylvania last Sunday and was only reported when a member of staff returned to the building that evening.

Investigators believe that the assailants gained access to the offices after kicking in a basement door, which also acted as an escape route as they made their getaway with thousands of pounds worth of office equipment.

Among the items stolen were a number of computers, three laptops and some other office machines, including a Paper shredder.

Police in Pennsylvania have said that it is likely that the thieves are trying to sell the stolen office equipment on the street and have called on residents of Reading to report anyone offering them suspicious office products.

The theft of thousands of pounds worth of office equipment has reiterated the importance of securing expensive equipment and protecting it from the attention of thieves.
