Watch A Microwave Blow Up

By Paperstone on March 20, 2011 in Catering, Fun

As a species, we’re not that keen on being blown up. But many of us do quite like watching explosions.

Boing Boing informs us that a certain Tesla 500 likes to blow up old microwaves, partly, we are told, to harvest some of their parts but also, surely, to revel in the aesthetics of destruction.

Tesla 500’s preferred method of blowing up microwaves is by cooking sealed bottles of liquid in them. It usually takes about 20 minutes for one to explode.

In this video, he seals a bottle of Kalua with silicone to achieve an impressive result. For the impatient, the microwave blows up just over a minute and a half in.
