One in three adult Britons already know what they’re getting on Christmas Day because they’ve sneaked a peak at their hidden presents.

One thousand British adults were interviewed for the survey, commissioned by insurance company insurastore.com, which found that 37 percent of them have sought out their gifts and eight in ten of these have actually ended up finding them.

One in five have torn the wrapping away enough to reveal the present while one in twenty have pulled the Paper off completely.

However, over half of snoopers (56 percent) regretted their actions afterwards.

“Kids aside, it seems even adults have a fascination for what Father Christmas might have bought them and keeping surprises under wraps is a considerable challenge in any household," said insurastore.com Managing Director Paul Maddicott.

“We’d definitely urge anyone who’s curious to try and resist temptation as the spoilt surprise and feelings of guilt are likely to take the fun out of Xmas day.”
