BenQ Mobile to be sold online

By Paperstone on February 27, 2007 in Office Supplies

Office equipment, furniture and even plants from BenQ Mobile’s headquarters are to be sold on eBay, according to Reuters.

German officials have reportedly given up trying to find an investor for BenQ Mobile and now the firm is to go into liquidation.

As such, its assets, including the contents of its offices, are to be sold off to help appease debtors and pay off liabilities believed to be in the region of $1.16 billion (£590 million).

BenQ decided to stop bankrolling the businesses last September after the firm failed to increase sales and profits in the face of stiff competition from other mobile phone firms such as Motorola, Nokia and companies from the Far East.

German firm Pluta is believed to be handling the online sale of BenQ Mobile’s assets and it is hoped that the sale of office equipment and furniture will raise significant finances in the aftermath of the firm’s liquidation.
