Our Office Move – Interior Design Masters Time

By Paperstone on April 27, 2021 in Uncategorized

If you’ve been following the series of blog posts about our office move you’re in for a treat. We think this is the most exciting bit! It’s design time.

Did you watch Alan Carr’s Interior Design Masters? Well, we feel a bit like contestants on that show at the moment.

Although we had a very clear idea of what we like/don’t like and the must-haves for our new office; we needed help on how to put it all together in the best way possible for the space to look and feel on-brand.

We’d already found the new office and knew the space we were working with. So, we spoke to a series of office interior designers to find an expert to help us. To choose, we looked at their existing work and read their online reviews. As it happened we found someone who knew our new landlord, which was a real help in moving the project forward at pace.

The design briefing

We showed the designers both our existing office space (so they could get a feel for how we had been working) and the new space. They met with some of the team to get to know our needs and style.

In the briefing we discussed:

  • what we liked and disliked in the current office;
  • our list of requirements eg dedicated office space, meeting rooms, storage, sockets;
  • how different teams and individuals like to work;
  • which areas needed to be quiet vs where more discussion/creative meetings would take place;
  • our brand style eg colours, brand values;
  • our level of comfort in pushing design to the maximum;
  • what materials we liked/disliked and lastly but very importantly;
  • our budget (a good gauge for setting this is one year’s rent equivalent).

The office interior designers took all of this information and the office floor plans away to work their magic!
