Crimestopper: A sticky tape dispenser

An Orkney thief was stopped in his tracks mid-robbery when an enterprising till worker hit him on the head with a sticky tape dispenser.

Christopher Baird, 18, of Finstown, held Euan Brown, a till worker at Baikie’s Stores, at knife point, demanding money. But a defiant Brown challenged the robber and eventually whacked him on the head with the heavy stationery item.

Baird, who has admitted assault and attempted robbery, is in custody, awaiting sentance.
