Paperstone – Office life, work and fun

Google Zeitgeist 2009

By Paperstone on December 8, 2009 in Fun, Office Supplies

Google have published their annual “Zeitgeist” lists of the fastest rising (and falling) terms keyed into its omnipresent search engine. Given the cultural pervasiveness of Google, “Zeitgeist” isn’t really a misnomer for what these lists represent.

Not surprisingly, Michael Jackson tops the fastest risers. Facebook is 2nd. Twitter, Windows 7 and Lady Gaga are also in there. Since 2008 was their year, Beijing, Euro 2008 and Obama were searched less eagerly in 2009. Curiosity has also waned about Amy Winehouse. Evidently, people on the mend are far less interesting than human train wrecks.

Acai berries intrigued us food-wise, as did picnics. Was 2009 a particularly good year for the picnic, we wonder?
