Pack your PC and go

A new device is to be launched that will revolutionise mobile working, according to its inventors.

Pinkerton Consulting has unveiled a new device that turns any USB storage device into a portable office environment, containing all of the software and programs installed on work-based PCs.

The portable computing environment (PCE) works by shrinking all important software, files and data and storing it on one portable device.

This can then be unpacked on any other computer, making it easy for business users to keep their office environment with them wherever they are.

Plus, Pinkerton Consulting claims that by using a Unix operating system it is able to offer support to a wide range of programs and file types, including word documents, databases and spreadsheets.

Pinkerton Consulting said: "[This] simple yet ingenious concept will change the way both personal and business users run their computer infrastructure.

"Instead of passwords and vast networks being utilised to house everyone at work or at home, everyone will have their own unique computer that travels with them."

Moreover, it has stated that PCE has a variety of uses across a broad range of areas, including at home, in the office, on the road and even in schools.
