New Samsung printers ‘ideal for small businesses’

The CLX-2160N range of printers, manufactured by Samsung, has been described by a reviewer as perfectly suitable for small companies and home offices.

Writing in PC Pro, Dave Mitchell says that the office machines are "good value", particularly considering the fact that a network print server is included.

He explains that the printers have a 16 page-per-minute printing speed for black-and-white documents and a four page-per-minute speed for colour.

There is a 1,200 dpi colour scanner built into the Samsung machine, which also has a 150-sheet Paper tray.

The office equipment manufacturer states that the new device is the smallest multifunction colour laser printer in the world, a claim that the reviewer admits could be true.

However, he writes: "In the quest for minimalism, there’s always a price to pay – and this is revealed in the average output quality."

Mr Mitchell also contends that printing costs "are on the high side" and questions Samsung‘s practice of shipping the devices with starter printer cartridges.

The review concludes that the office equipment company "has done a good job of packing so many features into such a small chassis and delivering them at a low price".

Last month, Samsung launched what it claimed was the world’s slimmest monochrome laser printer.
