Customers have ‘new demands’ for office furniture
Businesses which are looking to rent and furnish offices are seeking a variety of environmental options, it has been claimed.
Bisley, a manufacturer of office furniture and storage products, told ClimateChangeCorp.com that its customers had increasingly been asking for more eco-friendly offerings.
"Our customers seemed to be saying: ‘Don’t just give us a cabinet, give us corporate responsibility’," Bisley’s marketing manager Gary Carr told the website.
He explained that it was difficult to give proof of this responsibility when clients were asking for evidence that office furniture was certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which ensures that wood comes from an ethical and sustainable source.
However, Mr Carr said that his company does not use wood in its products and therefore decided to take a different approach.
Joining forces with the Office Furniture and Filing Manufacturers’ Association, Bisley set out to calculate its CO2 emissions on a product-by-product basis.
The firm then allowed its customers to compare the environmental impact of buying office products from within the UK to shipping them from abroad.
Bisley’s origins date back to 1931.
At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office furniture.
