Women targeted by office furniture suppliers

Office furniture Office furniture suppliers in the US are targeting female entrepreneurs, reports abcmoney.co.uk.

After highlighting the fact that much of the office furniture available to businesses was geared at larger people, many firms are developing their offerings to meet the demands of a growing number of new female business owners.

Women-owned small businesses are growing at almost twice the rate of those started up by their male counterparts.

Kim Roffey, a strategist at Kurt Salmon Associates, said: "Women really want to personalise their space. Men are looking for more functionality.

"When men buy an office chair, they focus on whether it rolls under the desk and provides good back support. Women look at those factors, but at the top of their mind is how it fits with the look of the room."

Office Depot, the US's second largest office supplies retailer, has been marked as a "pioneer" in the office furniture market for women.

In 2003, it collaborated with renowned decorator Christopher Lowell to produce office furniture, such as whitewash executive office desks, to appeal to female entrepreneurs.

Other leading names in office furniture to have outlined their intention to tap into the market include OfficeMax and IKEA.

At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office furniture.
