Office equipment recycling 'big in Swindon'

Office equipment A recycling group in Swindon has helped send 3,000 tonnes of unwanted furniture and office equipment to charities around the UK since its launch last summer, it has been revealed.

The Waste to Wonder project is unique to Swindon and has been set up by the Green Standards organisation.

Its mission is to help businesses dispose of their waste in an ethical manner while also helping to increase the amount of re-use and recycling of surplus products from firms in Swindon.

Waste office furniture and electronic equipment is gathered by the group and collated in a central warehouse where charities can come and peruse what is available.

This allows them to take modern-day equipment and technology to those who may otherwise not have access to it.

The group's marketing manager, Michael Amos, told the Gazette and Herald: "It has been going fantastically well and some companies have been finding the service essential.

"There is no prejudice, we don't mind what the charity does as long as it is registered."

Mr Amos added that the service was also helping businesses in Swindon become more ethical and improve their environmental credentials.
