By Paperstone on February 5, 2010 in Office Workers

According to a poll of 1,036 people by Lumison, a business ISP, two-thirds of UK companies do no have a remote working policy in place, despite a majority of office workers believing they would be more productive and work longer hours working from home.

The poll also revealed structural and cultural barriers to home working. Twenty-seven percent cited technology , 41 percent cited company management and 32 percent cited the nature of their business as the most significant obstacles to remote working.

Half of respondents said their bosses were sceptical whether people are really working if they aren’t in the office. Twenty-seven percent said their bosses valued being present above productivity.
