New wireless printer range from Lexmark

By Paperstone on April 18, 2007 in Office Supplies

Lexmark has responded to the increasing demand from office staff and home computer users for wireless IT technology by launching a new range of affordable wireless printers.

Both PCs and Macs will be able to work with the devices, which will implement wireless communication in the same way wireless internet does.

The first two wireless Lexmark printers to be released are the X4550 all-in-one and the Z1420 wireless colour printer.

But the company plans to release another six wireless printers by the end of 2007, making it eight out of 12 inkjets released this year with wireless capabilities.

Najib Bahous, Lexmark vice president and president of its consumer printer division, said: "Consumers are embracing wireless networking with the rapid adoption of wireless notebook computers and wireless routers.

"However, because of the high price of existing wireless printers and the complexity of use, consumers have been slow to adopt wireless printing. We intend to change that with new wireless printers from Lexmark that are affordable, easy to install and easy to use."

The X4550 can print 26 black and 18 colour pages per minute, while the Z1420 is slightly slower.
