Company recycles office supplies

Telecoms provider GO has introduced a new policy to further its eco-friendly policies by calling for Paper-based office supplies to be recycled, it has emerged.

Various office supplies such as promotional material, letterheads, envelopes, business cards and stationery were handed in by employees of the company as part of the scheme, the Malta Independent reports.

The next several days will see GO processing two 20-foot containers filled with these obsolete office supplies through a local waste management operator.

Previous green measures undertaken by the firm include the re-use of carrier bags and the collection of old directories from customers for recycling.

"Our employees are becoming more and more conscious of the need to promote and safeguard the environment. We would like to thank them for participating in this exercise," said Franco Aloisio, GO’s head of communications and public affairs, according to the publication.

"We hope our customers will appreciate the company’s commitment to team up with major players locally and ensure better waste management strategies for the benefit of future generations."

HP is another company which has recently spoken about its environmental policies – this time regarding printer supplies.

The company told TechWorld magazine that its policy of recycling printer cartridges represents a "resounding environmental success story".
