Expert gives tips on handling printer cartridges

An industry expert has offered tips to anyone who has to handle printer cartridges, whether that be at home or when maintaining office machines.
Ellen Davidson, freelance editor for HP Ink Online, writes on Articlesbase.com that proper handling of printer cartridges is integral to obtaining optimum performance from a printer.
A key thing to avoid, she claims, is touching the copper parts of the printer cartridge any more than necessary. Components such as the head and the nozzle can be impaired if not handled with care.
Cleaning is another vital aspect of getting the most out of your office supplies. Here, Ms Davidson believes people can not be too careful.
"If you are going to err, then err on the side of overuse because while the utility does consume ink every time it is used, it is going to consume more ink if you allow it to become dirty and inefficient in the way that it dispenses ink," she writes.
Furthermore, she warns users that while refilling printer cartridges is a worthy and money-saving practice, they should not be afraid to replace the item if it is obviously broken.
The article follows a report by office equipment manufacturer Lexmark, which revealed that 80 per cent of homeworkers recycle office supplies such as paper.
