The development by Kyocera will be introduced into the new KJ4 Series of office products, which are due to be launched in its native Japan next month – and in Europe in the summer.
As a result of the new technology, office machines for commercial use will be able to print at a speed in excess of 200 metres each minute in full-colour mode.
The extra-wide printhead allows it to cover more space at a faster rate than ever before, the company claims.
Hitoshi Takao, general manager of Kyocera, said: "The superior performance and reliability of Kyocera’s KJ4 Series printhead represents a breakthrough that will open new markets for inkjet printing technology.
"We believe this product will finally make it possible for the inkjet printer to compete successfully in the mainstream market for commercial printing."
In May, Kyocera will host an event at Birmingham’s NEC which will feature government and charity representatives as well as guest speakers from the utilities, conservation and corporate sectors talking about the green office supplies industry.
