Supermarket to stock recycled office supplies

By Paperstone on September 11, 2007 in Office Supplies

One of the largest supermarkets in the UK is set to stock recycled office supplies such as stationary, it has emerged.

Asda will be selling a range of the eco-friendly office supplies, ranging from notebooks to pens, Recycling & Waste Management News & Information reports.

It is a decision which was encouraged by Recycling Action Yorkshire (RAY) and the Waste & Resources Action Programme. Both organisations help raise awareness about the importance of purchasing environmentally-friendly office supplies with high amounts of recycled content.

RAY procurement project manager Lorna Peacock commented: "If the recycling industry in Yorkshire is to grow and prosper there has to be markets for its products.

"This is why RAY is actively promoting the benefits of buying and selling recycled products to businesses within the region, providing an incentive for recycling businesses to invest in the Yorkshire and Humber region."

She added that when high-profile retailers such as Asda stock recycled office supplies they increase the availability of such products to ordinary people.

Jim Veneables, managing director of officebroker.com, recently suggested that recycling office supplies and shutting down office machines were some of the easiest ways that employees can help save the planet.

At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office supplies.
