The 16 efforts fetched a total of &pound;104,800 and were snapped up exclusively by buyers from China, India and Russia.<\/p>\n<p>As a young man, Hitler had been an aspiring artist but his dreams were thwarted &ndash; partly because his father would have none of it but overwhelmingly because he was rubbish. His body of work is comprised mainly of drab, unchallenging watercolours of landscapes and buildings. As an artist in Vienna in his early twenties he struggled and sold copies of postcard scenes for cash.  He was rejected twice by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna who cited &ldquo;unfitness for painting.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, his paintings nowadays arouse monetary interest presumably because they are the work of a very famous genocidal nutcase. Said Richard Westwood-Brookes of Mullock&#8217;s Auctioneers, &ldquo;There is a great interest in World War II in these countries and a lot of people with a lot of money to invest.
