When everything feels like &#8216;a lot&#8217;&#8230; start with a list<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Ever feel like your to-do list is living rent-free in your brain?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the simplest ways to take back control is to get it all out of your head and onto paper (or a screen). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writing a to-do list helps you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stop the &#8216;I\u2019ve forgotten something&#8217; feeling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See everything clearly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prioritise what actually matters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/To-do-list.jpg\" alt=\"To do list to help with stress management\" class=\"wp-image-6997 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/To-do-list.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/To-do-list-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/To-do-list-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And ticking things off is a deeply satisfying, instant mood boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Don\u2019t fight your brain &#8211; work with it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve all been there: staring at a task, re-reading the same sentence 12 times, getting nowhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes the best thing you can do? Step away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not in the right mindset, try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Switching to a different task<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doing some light planning or research instead<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coming back to it when your brain is ready<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll often get it done faster and better. Productivity isn\u2019t about forcing it &#8211; it\u2019s about timing it right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Fresh air = instant reset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Get-outdoors.jpg\" alt=\"Get outdoors to help relieve stress\" class=\"wp-image-6995 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Get-outdoors.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Get-outdoors-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Get-outdoors-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Never underestimate the power of stepping outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether it\u2019s for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A short walk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sitting in the sun for a few minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A quick breather between meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh air is amazing for your mind and giving you an instant energy boost.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Multi-tasking is a myth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying to juggle five things at once might feel productive, but it usually has the opposite effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Focusing on one task at a time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>reduces overwhelm,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improves quality of work, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>helps you actually finish things.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Move your body, change your mood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t need a full gym session to feel better (although bonus points if you do get to the gym).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Simple movement works wonders. We really do. But too much of it is not always your stress levels\u2019 best friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try switching it up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/catering\/tea\/l-198#filter_product-type=Herbal+Tea\">herbal tea<\/a> now and then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Calming blends can help you unwind<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less caffeine = fewer jitters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s another example of a small change that can make a big difference.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Try box breathing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your stress spikes suddenly, this is a great go-to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/box-breathing#getting-started\">breathing technique<\/a>. Simply picture drawing the 4 sides of a box as you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inhale for 4 seconds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold for 4<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhale for 4<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold for 4<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat a few times and you\u2019ll feel your body &amp; mind start to settle. It\u2019s quick, discreet, and surprisingly effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Take your lunch break<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Step away from your desk. Even if it\u2019s just for 10\u201315 minutes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Change your environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give your brain a break<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid the \u201cworking non-stop\u201d spiral<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Surprisingly, you\u2019ll come back more focused &#8211; not behind.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Lunch-break.jpg\" alt=\"Take your lunch break to help with stress\" class=\"wp-image-7037 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Lunch-break.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Lunch-break-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Lunch-break-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Try the \u201cstep counting\u201d trick<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our favourite quirky tips from the team&#8230; Count your steps as you walk to the kettle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It sounds simple, but:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It shifts your focus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clears mental clutter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sometimes makes you forget what you were stressed about in the first place<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Worth a try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Art-club.jpg\" alt=\"Get creative to help deal with stress\" class=\"wp-image-6994 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Art-club.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Art-club-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.paperstone.co.uk\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Art-club-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Get creative or zone out<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes the best way to deal with stress is to not think about it for a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Creative or mindful activities help you reset (as well as being fun to do). Try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Drawing, writing, or doodling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listening to music<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letting your mind wander<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not wasted time &#8211; it\u2019s recovery.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final thoughts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although stress is normal &#8211; staying stuck in &#8216;stress-mode&#8217; doesn\u2019t have to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of these tips aren\u2019t big, dramatic changes. They\u2019re small, everyday habits that might just help you feel more calm and in control.
