Part Two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well Alan, firstly, may I congratulate you for turning such an otherwise banal subject into a quite enthralling monologue. Secondly, I believe you are right. We British didn&rsquo;t like drinking water, mostly, I seem to recall reading, because it was filthy and contained all manner of diseases. So we boiled it and added tea for flavour. A resoundingly successful solution to a serious problem. We also produced weak beer for this very same reason. You could drink it safely without getting too drunk before work.
