GDPR the final countdown – tips to keep your data secure<\/h2>\n

Just a few days from now, your office security is going to be more important than it\u2019s ever been – thanks to the new GDPR. Under these tougher rules, organisations must protect their customer, supplier and employee data or fall foul of potentially crippling fines. It\u2019s not just hackers out there in cyberspace you need to be aware of- you also need to protect your business against physical intruders who might want to steal information.<\/p>\n

So, here are 3 tips for tightening office security:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Don\u2019t give criminals the key to the door. <\/strong><\/p>\n

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) has completely replaced physical keys in many office buildings, but not everyone is aware that security passes can now be cloned by cloned by fraudsters. RFID cards are vulnerable to the latest technology and can be read from a distance of several feet away, so criminals can collect data from them in public places like packed trains and busy cafes. It\u2019s easy for a data thief to transfer the information to a blank card which gives them easy access to your office.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, there\u2019s a straightforward solution if security cards are kept in special, secure holders which cannot be scanned. These card holders block unauthorised transmission of data at the normal frequency used by businesses (13.56 MHz). Make sure you verify people\u2019s identity beyond doubt, and don\u2019t take business cards at face value – ask for a driving licence as a safeguard.
