It\u2019s time for changes in the workplace to accommodate working parents in the UK.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the message behind National Work Life Week, an awareness event taking place from October 2-6.<\/p>\n

The aim is to focus attention on the needs of parents and children, and to encourage organisations to become family-friendly.<\/p>\n

Work Life Week is organised by two charities – Working Families and Family Friendly Working – who have released statistics on current situation working practices. They say families are losing quality time together and parents are struggling to progress their careers.<\/p>\n

Half of all British employees would like to work flexibly, but currently only 1 in 10 jobs advertised have flexible working as an option.<\/p>\n

Seven out of ten mums and dads work at home in the evenings and at weekends because of high workloads, a lack of time for planning<\/a> and problems connected to organisational culture.<\/p>\n

Fifty per cent of parents say their work-life balance creates stress and one in ten are ready to resign without another job to go to.<\/p>\n

Work Life Week aims to get employers and employees talking about well-being at work and work life fit. It\u2019s an opportunity for employers to show their employees, and potential candidates, how their organisation is building a family-friendly workplace.<\/p>\n
