After the fun of the festive season going back to work in the post-Christmas gloom can be a bit depressing.<\/p>\n

The third Monday in January has become known as \u201cBlue Monday\u201d and is said to be the most depressing day of the year, according to some media reports.<\/p>\n

The phrase was first used in a 2005 press release from holiday company Sky Travel which claimed to have calculated the date using a statistical equation.<\/p>\n

Many scientists say there is no real evidence to support the claim that this is the worst day of the year, although most people dislike gloomy mid-winter days.<\/p>\n

In order to counteract Blue Monday, some people like to perform acts of kindness for their colleagues and loved ones.<\/p>\n

So if your colleagues look depressed on Monday, January 18th, you might like to think of a small act of goodwill to make them a bit happier. Who knows, an annual day of kindness might catch on and become an office tradition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
