Most of us hopefully take our manners to work too, and remember to treat our colleagues with politeness and respect.<\/p>\n<p>But just in case we should forget, next Friday (September 5<sup>th<\/sup>) is Bring Your Manners to Work Day. This event was created by the Protocol School of Washington to remind everyone to practise a few key courtesies at work.<\/p>\n<p>So here are a few points to ponder:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t have loud conversations on your mobile while others are trying to concentrate (we tend to speak three times louder when we\u2019re on the phone)<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t text while you\u2019re in meetings<\/li>\n<li>Tidy up after yourself (in kitchen and work areas)<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t answer your phone if you\u2019re having lunch with someone. Set your phone to vibrate and return the call afterwards<\/li>\n<li>Dress appropriately (no see-through fabrics, low necklines, or lycra cycling shorts!)<\/li>\n<li>Be punctual<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t gossip about colleagues or \u201cover-share\u201d your personal thoughts and feelings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not everyone agrees with Bring Your Manners to Work Day though, because it\u2019s also Be Late for Something Day on September 5<sup>th<\/sup>.
