If you fancy updating your work skills and professional development, why not be brave and ask your boss?<\/p>\n

You may find you have a strong case, depending on the size of the company you work for.<\/p>\n

The right to request time to train came into force in the UK in April 2010. It allows employees in businesses with 250 or more staff to ask for time to train in skills relevant to their job, workplace or business.<\/p>\n

To be eligible a person must be an employee, not an agency worker, and have at least 26 weeks service under their belt. The entitlement does not apply to members of the armed forces, or anyone who is still of compulsory school age.<\/p>\n

The training requested must be job-related, and contribute to personal productivity and business development.<\/p>\n
