With the summer holidays descending upon us, office supplies<\/a> are set to be in high demand in time for the new school term beginning in September.<\/p>\n

And this trend is the same in the US as it is in the UK, according to a new study of 8,000 consumers conducted by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and entitled the 2007 back-to-school survey.<\/p>\n

A higher percentage of parents are going to visit office supplies<\/a> specialists rather than discount superstores such as Wal-Mart, the research discovered.<\/p>\n

Whereas last year, the NRF’s 2007 back-to-school survey found that 67.6 per cent of parents were set to visit discount stores, this number has shrunk to 67.6 per cent this year.<\/p>\n

In terms of office supplies<\/a>, 41.4 per cent of respondents expressed a desire to visit a specialist either in store or on line, contrasted with 35.8 per cent in 2006.<\/p>\n

Families with school-age children were found to spend an average of just over $563 (£281.50) per child on items such as iPods, laptops, printers<\/a>, printer cartridges<\/a> and other office supplies<\/a>. This figure equates to a rise of 6.9 per cent when compared with the previous 12 months, said the NRF.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
