Students at a Cambridgeshire school are set to benefit from a donation of £2,000 worth of printer cartridges<\/a> for the upcoming school year, it has emerged.<\/p>\n

Pupils at Southfields Junior School in Stanground – a suburb of Peterborough – will received the printer cartridges<\/a> thanks to a donation from local housing association Cross Keys Homes.<\/p>\n

The school had recently exchanged its old printers<\/a> for more modern, environmentally-friendly models which require less power and have cheaper printing costs – prompting the need for the printer supplies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mark Faint, Cross Keys Homes’ head of ICT and facilities, said that the move is meant to both reduce the amount of landfill space used and "give something" back to the community.<\/p>\n

"Ink cartridges nowadays cost a lot of money and we wanted to make sure that these surplus cartridges were put to good use.<\/p>\n

"We contacted all local schools to find out who used the same old printers<\/a> as ours and found that Southfields Junior School did and were greatly in need of them."<\/p>\n

Headteacher Laura Martin said the students and faculty were "extremely grateful" to receive the printer cartridges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Previously, Cross Keys Homes had demonstrated its commitment to the environment by encouraging staff to recycle office supplies<\/a>.<\/p>\n
