UK office workers have not embraced the notion of a Paperless office but are instead using printers<\/a> in a careless manner, according to new research.<\/p>\n

The average British worker uses office machines<\/a> to print 22 pages each working day, a study by Fujitsu Siemens Computers<\/a> reveals.<\/p>\n

It suggests that attitudes towards using printers<\/a> are fairly relaxed, with 23 per cent of workers saying they do not give careful thought to printing documents.<\/p>\n

Additionally, more than half of employees (53 per cent) confess to accidentally printing the same document more than once, while eight per cent regularly print emails they have not yet read.<\/p>\n

Paul Parrish, managing director of Fujitsu Siemens Computers<\/a> IT Product Services, remarked: "Sadly, the Paperless office remains a myth for many. Office printing continues to be out of control with very few companies having any transparency on their print costs.<\/p>\n

"This is compounded by the fact that there is a general lack of guidelines for employees around printing practices and most people readily admit to not really thinking twice about hitting the print option on an email or document." <\/p>\n

The most common reason cited for using office machines<\/a> to print documents was the need to share information for review.<\/p>\n
