A new plant has been opened by office equipment<\/a> manufacturer Xerox which aims to help fill the demand for colour printer cartridges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The latest generation of solid ink, which was first used in Xerox’s Phaser 8860 and Phaser 8860MFP colour office machines<\/a>, will be produced at the new automated ink manufacturing plant, which takes up 10,000 sq ft of space on the firm’s Portland, Oregon campus.<\/p>\n

According to the office supplies<\/a> company, the technologically-advanced ink means that colour printing is as affordable as that which is done by black-and-white inkjet cartridges.<\/p>\n

The crayon-like ink sticks were developed over five years and are aimed at reducing both the price and waste that is produced by using printer cartridges<\/a> in office equipment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"Xerox has redefined color printing with the advancements we’ve made in solid ink," commented Jim Rise, vice president and general manager of the Solid Ink Business Unit at Xerox. <\/p>\n

"We’ve taken it to a level where solid ink is the affordable, easy to use color printer for businesses of any sort and size." <\/p>\n

He added that Xerox’s success in the field of solid ink production "is really just getting started".<\/p>\n

Recently, the company’s office machines<\/a> were rated among the best on the market in the Annual Colour End-user Survey carried out by Industry Analysts.<\/p>\n
