The building boom in one area of the US has allowed one office furniture<\/a> company to double its profits over the last five years, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Sales of office furniture<\/a> and office equipment<\/a> at New York-based Millington Lockwood Business Interiors have grown from $7.5 million (£3.77 million) in 2002 to more than $18 million last year, as a result of a boom in the number of companies moving to the area.<\/p>\n

Population growth around the city of Buffalo – in the west of New York state – has fuelled a number of related sectors, including office furniture<\/a> retailers. <\/p>\n

The Buffalo News reports that the central business district of the city – near Niagara Falls – has grown by almost 45 per cent during the last five years, with the increase in companies meaning more office furniture<\/a> is required.<\/p>\n

Mike Bonitatibus, Millington Lockwood president and owner, told the publication that the company has had to change the office products<\/a> it sells in order to fit in.<\/p>\n

"As the market itself in Buffalo has started to change, we end up with customers who are very visually oriented, very image oriented, very concerned with performance and other companies who are concerned about that but just can’t afford to get there."<\/p>\n
