A new environmental programme which uses recycled printer cartridges<\/a> has been launched by one of the world’s largest office machines<\/a> manufacturers.<\/p>\n

HP<\/a> has announced that more of its printer cartridges<\/a> than ever before will be made from recycled plastic during 2008, with the company aiming to double the number of inkjet cartridges made this way.<\/p>\n

A new recycling process and system have been introduced by the office products<\/a> company in a bid to make HP<\/a>printer cartridges<\/a> more eco-friendly. <\/p>\n

The office machines<\/a> manufacturer has also pledged to use funds gained from selling the new green printer cartridges<\/a> to fund humanitarian projects across Africa.<\/p>\n

Michael Hoffmann, senior vice president of HP<\/a>, said: "By developing the technology to use recycled plastics in original HP<\/a> inkjet print cartridges, we have the opportunity to reduce the environmental impact HP<\/a> products have on the planet.<\/p>\n

"HP<\/a>‘s considerable investments in building a recycling infrastructure made this achievement possible, and this is just the beginning of what we hope to accomplish."<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, fellow office equipment<\/a> manufacturer Canon launched a new campaign to help offices and companies around the UK become more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n
