US Postal Service 'to recycle old office supplies'
22/04/2008 11:47
The US Postal Service has jumped onto the green bandwagon by launching a recycling initiative for old office products.
Through its Mail Back campaign, the US Postal Service will recycle any old printer cartridges, office supplies and office products used by consumers across the country.
Postage will be paid by Clover Technologies Group, which will recycle the office equipment at a specialised centre.
Old office products which can be refurbished will be done so by the company and sold on, with profits being given to environmental charities and other green projects.
Anita Bizzotto, chief marketing officer and executive vice president for the Postal Service, said: "As one of the nation's leading corporate citizens, the Postal Service is committed to environmental stewardship.
"This program is one more way the Postal Service is empowering consumers to go green."
Recently, Epson launched a campaign to increase the recycling of inkjet cartridges after they have been used in office products.
The company's Return&Recycle programme aims to limit its impact on the environment, as each set of inkjet cartridges can contain harmful toxins, with various chemicals being used in the toners.
