Office equipment firms join up for new industry standards
25/02/2008 16:31
Nine of the world largest manufacturers of office supplies and office machines have joined together in a bid to make higher quality paper available around the globe to enable better printing.
Office equipment manufacturers - including HP, Epson and International Paper - have announced their support of the ColorLok Paper Standard, which will enable thicker, more durable paper to be used with a range of office machines in the future.
Epson, HP and Kodak will support the use of ColorLok paper with certain office products, with a number of other office equipment companies rumoured to be interested in joining the group, The Recycler reports.
Papers that use the ColorLok logo must pass a concise set of standards for print quality, as well as physical and electrostatic standards for quality and reliability.
By incorporating ColorLok papers into their product lines, companies supporting the standard will offer their customers papers that can keep pace with advancements in printing technology found in digital printing systems. It is expected that the new papers will be introduced throughout 2008.
Earlier this month, HP unveiled the Photosmart Pro B8850 range of office machines which are aimed at small businesses and companies which do not have office space in abundance.
The range will, later this year, include ColorLok technology.
