Green office machines 'can help in climate change fight'
19/02/2008 14:56
Companies around the world are being urged to purchase environmentally-friendly office supplies and office machines in a bid to reduce their carbon footprints.
According to the co-founder of a US-led environmental campaign group called Unscrew America, all businesses can help in the fight against climate change by choosing office machines and office equipment which have energy-saving devices.
Office products which have automatic shut down systems, or those which are made from recycled materials, can help reduce a businesses impact on the environment.
Co-founder of Unscrew America and producer of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, said: "It is unrealistic to ask companies to suddenly go green, but they can do small things, such as powering off computers or changing to energy efficient lightbulbs, that will make an environmental difference."
Earlier this month, according to the Annual General Meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland earlier this month, office machines manufacturer Ricoh is one of the most environmentally conscious companies in the world.
The award was judged upon the carbon emissions levels of its office products and their distribution systems and networks.
