Canon launches updated high-end office products
24/03/2008 22:37
One of the largest office machines manufacturers in the world has followed up one of its recent success stories by launching an updated version of the office products. The new imagePRESS C6000VP/C6000 by Canon is aimed at companies which require high-quality printing for a range of uses and is the follow-up to the imagePRESS C7000VP, which was launched by the firm last year. In its updated form, the office equipment maintains the same high durability, productivity and value as before, but with a faster printing ratio. At top speed and at its highest resolution, the office machines can churn out 60 pages per minute. Janet Cain, senior director of production systems at Canon, said: "Since its launch in June 2007, the imagePRESS C7000VP has set the standard for colour image quality and productivity in the digital production print market. "The new imagePRESS C6000VP/C6000 continues that tradition of high-end performance and reliability delivered by the original device at a price point that will expand our reach and meet the needs of a wider array of production customers." Last month, Canon announced it will work with technology firm eCopy to install document imaging software on a range of office machines previously made by the company, including the Canon ScanFront 220e network scanners. At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office machines.

Office machine maker looks to the future
18/03/2008 17:19
Hewlett Packard (HP) will be focusing on projects targeted at complex technological challenges posed to customers in the next decade. The office machine manufacturer's advanced research group, HP Labs, will move from handling about 150 smaller projects to concentrating on up to 30 larger ones, it says. Led by director Prith Banerjee, the 23 labs focus on five main areas of interest: information explosion, dynamic cloud services, content transformation, intelligent infrastructure and sustainability. HP has recently forged working relationships with universities, partners, customers and venture capitalists in order to gather information and insight into the next generation of technical challenges to be addressed. Chairman and chief executive of the company Mark Hurd said: "HP Labs has a long history of delivering innovation that has changed the way people use technology. "The steps we're taking today will further strengthen Labs and help ensure that HP is focused on groundbreaking research that addresses customer needs and creates new growth opportunities for the company." Research will be transformed into commercial products and services, which could possibly include innovations in office equipment and office machines. HP is one of the world's largest manufacturers and developers of office machines, office equipment and new technologies. It invests $3.6 billion (about £1.8 million) a year in research and development.

Scotland's office equipment plans 'save money'
17/03/2008 16:17
A new approach to public sector procurement of office equipment and office machines has saved Scottish taxpayers £1.2 million, the government says. Procurement Scotland (PS) has enabled innovative methods of purchasing IT office equipment via an online auction. Examples of the savings involved include £150,000 in the purchase of 1,100 desktop and laptopcomputers and a deal by Grampian Fire and Rescue that meant they got two laptops for the price of one. The aims of PS are to formulate national guidelines and practices involved in the procurement of common goods and services, including the purchase of office supplies and office equipment, worth about £8 billion a year. Cabinet secretary for finance John Swinney said: "I'm looking to all parts the public sector to buy wisely and make the most effective use of their resources. "As a first demonstration of the work of Procurement Scotland, I welcome the substantial savings of up to 56 per cent, which will allow money to be reallocated to other priorities." The auction, which was run by PS, was attended by representatives from central government, councils and higher and further education. An annual budget of more than £30 billion was managed by the devolved government for Scotland in the last financial year.
