Vista hits the 20 million mark
28/03/2007 16:44
Microsoft's new Vista software has sold 20 million copies in the two months since its release.
Windows software has been a massive success throughout offices in the UK for years and the company's latest offering is expected to be just as popular with office staff.
The IT giant announced that sales have eclipsed the 17 million shifted by predecessor XP in its initial stages of availability.
Included in the sales figures are free upgrades and pre-installed copies on PCs.
Vista product launch team manager Nick White also revealed recently that home users and small and medium sized enterprises would receive a ten per cent discount for additional licences.
Bill Veghte, corporate vice president of the Windows Business Group at Microsoft, said he was encouraged that the product had enjoyed a positive customer response.
He said: "While it's very early in the product lifecycle, we are setting a foundation for Windows Vista to become the fastest-adopted version of Windows ever."
Although the Vista revolution is underway many offices are expected to continue using their XP software for the foreseeable future.
