Swiss government 'should use more recycled office supplies'

The Swiss government has been told by environmental groups that it is not using enough recycled office supplies, it has emerged.
According to the Swissinfo website, the Swiss association for the promotion of ecological paper and ecology in the workplace (FUPS) and a separate Greenpeace initiative have both alleged that the government is using fewer recycled office supplies than previously.
The organisations say that the percentage of recycled paper used in office machines in government buildings has decreased over the past six years, falling from 51 per cent to
33 per cent.
Instead the groups would like 60 per cent of paper used in government-owned printers and copiers to be recycled and 20 per cent to have a Forest Stewardship Council label.
"For years the government talks about sustainable development, but the share of recycled paper used by the federal authorities continues to drop," Rahel Wunderli, from the Greenpeace initiative, told the news provider.
"If you look at overall paper consumption and not just photocopy and printing paper the authorities appear in a better light," said Daniela Feldmann, head of communication at the Federal Building and Logistics Office.
