Save your office money on postal increases
29/03/2007 17:10
With new postal increases set to come into force this Monday, a mail expert has come up with some tips to save your office some money.
Royal Mail is increasing first class postage by 2p to 34p, second class by 1p to 24p and three page international letters by 4p to 78p.
Luckily Peter Harris of online letter writing service L-Mail.com has come up with five alternatives to help offices across the UK cut costs.
Mr Harris revealed that pre-purchase stamps could save companies around five per cent on postage costs.
E-mails and faxes are popular tried and tested alternatives that he added to the list, as well as the more recent development of internet phone calls.
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is becoming increasingly more popular within UK offices and Mr Harris said users could speak online for 11 minutes for the price of a second class stamp.
He also suggested sending an L-Mail, as a three page letter to the US is 25 per cent cheaper than an international letter sent by air mail.
He said: "Where a post office will charge 78p for an airmail stamp to Australia, L-Mail will process a four page letter for a charge from 70p including all the stationery, postage and despatch of the letter from within Australia. The end result is fast delivery and financial savings."
