Samsung printers on "an entirely new level"
12/09/2007 11:43
New printers introduced by Samsung are aimed at raising the bar for artistic standards in office equipment, the firm has said.
The office machines manufacturer showed off the world's slimmest monochrome laser and multi-function printers at the IFA consumer electronics trade fair in Berlin.
According to Samsung, the ML-1630 monochrome laser and the SCX-4500 multifunction laser printers are meant to be "icons" for discerning consumers in the office equipment market.
Both printers have a glossy shine which is known as a "grand piano" finish and feature soft-touch sensors instead of buttons. The ML-1630 measures 11 cm thick.
With a 100-sheet paper cassette, the printers may be best used at home or in a small office, suggests PrinterInfo.com.
However, the site adds that eight MB of RAM "will allow for plenty of job queuing".
Jang-jae Lee, senior vice president of Samsung's digital printing division, said at the trade show that the office machines' design is what sets them apart from competitors.
"Samsung now takes the printer to an entirely new level of artistic refinement, above the technology and functional competition," he remarked.
"[The firm] will distinguish its new printers as luxurious icons of the global market by targeting individual consumers."
