POD to explode in the far east
22/01/2007 13:51
Fuji Xerox has stated that it believes on-demand printing will help its business sales improve by 50 per cent over the next three years.
The Japanese firm claims that its production services division will see massive growth in the next 36 months as printing on demand (POD) takes off in the land of the rising sun.
It believes that the sale of on-demand printing machines and related services will reach £835 million between now and the end of the decade, up from £540 million in the current financial year.
Fuji Xerox vice president Hiroshi Kurihara said: "The POD market in Japan still needs to catch up to booming demand in Western markets and Asia, such as China. We want to remain a pioneer in this sector as we expect more competition from rivals."
POD relates to print runs that can be completed in under a few hours and normally only consist of a relatively small production run.
Copies are not produced until an order is received and, with the advances of digital technology, POD is becoming increasingly popular as a way to cut costs related to over-printing.
At Paperstone, we offer a massive selection of printer supplies to meet your every need.
