Office furniture to go on display at design festival

Office furniture
which was created by design students at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College is set to be displayed at a design festival, it has emerged.

Eight chairs which were designed by masters students to be used while working will be shown at the London Design Festival in September, Design Week reports.

The office furniture was designed as part of the Smart Office initiative, which connects students with established designers in the industry to encourage innovation.

Jonathan Hindle, group managing director of office furniture designer KI Europe, told the publication that each year more work goes into the project.

"The fact that the initiative now counts towards students' final grades shows how seriously it is being taken," he said.

"We are seeing a steady improvement in the quality of the work year on year, probably because more time is being invested in research and briefing for the project."

And office furniture is not the only product area which has recently experienced a focus on fine design; Samsung recently unveiled two streamlined printers aimed at the discerning consumer.

Seunggu Kang, a general manager at the firm, said the office machines demonstrated "an entirely new level of artistic refinement".
