Microsoft and Fuji Xerox announce patent deal
22/03/2007 13:20
Microsoft and Fuji Xerox have agreed a patent deal that will allow each company to use the other's technology in their products and equipment.
No financial details have been disclosed but it is understood that a two-way monetary agreement will be in place between the two firms.
The agreement between Microsoft and Fuji Xerox should lead to greater interoperability between software and hardware, including office equipment, produced by the firms.
Kiyoshi Saito, Fuji Xerox senior vice president, said: "We are pleased to be able to reach a broad, mutually beneficial patent agreement with Microsoft that respects each company's patent portfolio, encourages greater interoperability and provides valuable protection for the customers of each company's products and services."
Microsoft's patent deal with Fuji Xerox is the latest in a string of agreements with other manufacturers and developers.
Similar deals with NEC and Seiko Epson have already been signed, as well as one with Novell that allows the use of the Linux software without fear of legal action.
At Paperstone, we stock a wide selection of office equipment from a range of manufacturers and brands.
