Low cost ink plan for HP
27/04/2007 12:59
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has followed moves by Kodak and Fujifilm by offering low-cost ink options, changing the way it delivers ink-jet cartridges to customers online and in-store.
The majority of new HP consumer printers sold globally will include multiple inkjet cartridge offerings, with options colour-coded according to price.
The cartridge options will allow those people who print small amounts low purchase prices, as well as lower cost-per-page prices for those who print greater amounts.
HP will be launching a new colour-coded packaging system and standard (blue), value (green) and specialty (red), allowing customers to find the appropriate product to meet their needs.
Pradeep Jotwani, senior vice president, supplies, imaging and printing group, HP, said: "For more than 25 years, many HP printers offered customers only one cartridge choice. Now, the majority of our printers will offer customers multiple options."
He added that customer choice and value was critical for "driving continued growth" and said the innovation HP was applying to the customer experience was as important as the technology behind its high-performance products.
HP has recently introduced a new range of products and services designed at "solving business problems", according to Frank Gillett at Forrester Research.
